WE LEARN THROUGH the arts

how we learn

Every child is an artist

At Newlands schools, we define the arts as involvement in creative and artistic activities such as dance, drama, music, painting or sculpture. It occurs as a curriculum subject in its own right, where children are taught artistic skills and knowledge, but is also used as a pedagogy across the curriculum.

Our arts pedagogy provides children with the opportunity to express their emotions, to relax and unwind and to share their learning across the curriculum, in different forms.

INSPIRING MINDS SAY

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

THOUGHT LEADERS SAY

Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves, instead of more like everyone else.
